Description
One of the original nameplates produced to commemorate the many British Steel plants across the UK. The plates were destined to be carried by class 37’s & class 56’s but before all the plates were allocated to locos the plan was shelved.
Around 20 or so locos (class 37’s & cl 56’s) actually carried nameplates relating to the British Steel locations/plants such as :- 37152 – British Steel Ravenscraig 37156 – British Steel Hunterston 37505 – British Steel Workington 56045 – British Steel Shelton 56050 – British steel Teesside. British Steel Orb was one of the half dozen manufactured plates never allocated and remained in storage until entering the collectors market.
