Description
Superb model of Richard Trevithick’s Penydarren Locomotive, made in stainless steel, all wheels and cogs rotate freely, displayed on a wooden ebonised stand with a £2 inset, commemorating this historic loco, also plate attached stating “The 200th Anniversary of Richard Trevithick’s Steam Locomotive 1804-2004. Model without stand is 6″ x 4 1/2”. Really nice desktop ornament. On the 21st February 1804, the worlds 1st ever railway journey ran 9 miles from the iron works at Penydarren to the Merthyr-Cardiff Canal, South Wales, this makes Richard Trevithick the true father of railways and not George Stephenson. |
