This War Department Loco Plate was carried by an ex North Staffordshire Railway 0-6-2 Tank No. 158 (LMS 2253), built at Stoke Locomotive Works 1909, sold to the War Department by the LMS in 1936, becoming Longmoor Military Rlys No. 20. The plate details the locomotive history in full and in that respect, is highly unusual if not unique. Designed by JH Adams for the NSR classified “NEW L”. This plate was fitted to the locos bunker whilst at the Longmoor M Rly when the loco was named “Marlborough” and renumbered 70207, withdrawn in 1947. Embossed cast brass 12″ x 7″. Extremely rare.
